Angel Recommends…12 Non-YA Books a YA Reader Should Read

Angel Recommends

Angel Recommends is a feature on the blog where I give awesome bookish recommendations.

Before being the avid YA reader I am today, I have read lots of middle-grade and adult fiction. I didn’t even know Young Adult books existed before so I devoured those books. I read them every day and every night, I even re-read some of those books.

If you’re looking for something new and non-YA to read, I’m here to recommend you 12 awesome non-YA books.

1. Acceptance by Susan Coll

I read this book when I was in my senior year of high school and I enjoyed it because it was about getting in college. I didn’t relate that much to the “technical” stuff of getting into college because the educational system in U.S. is very different from the Philippines but I related to the pressure put upon to senior students. The main characters of this book are teenagers but it is somehow an adult book. I don’t know how to explain that but you can try reading the book.

2. Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons by Lorna Landvik

This is a very funny and enjoyable book! Basically these housewives formed a book club called Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons (AHEB). This book showed what happened to their lives from the 60’s to the 90’s. Each chapter starts with the month and year, the host of the club for that month and the book they read.

3. Guilt by Association by Susan R. Sloan

Heartbreaking, powerful and thought-provoking.

4. Kaleidoscope by Danielle Steel

A marriage that was ruined that left three orphans separated. This is a story you will never forget.

5. Loves Music, Loves to Dance by Mary Higgins Clark

If you want a good mystery and creepy book, read this one. Just don’t try to read it at 3 am like I tried to do, you’ll never succeed.

6. Silent Honour by Danielle Steel

This book is basically the reason why I’m addicted to WWII fiction. I highly recommend it if you want to try WWII fiction.

7. Sushi for Beginners by Marian Keyes

This is a very charming and hilarious book about three different women trying to go after what they want.

8. The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

Time traveling and a wonderful romance.

9. Thirtynothing by Lisa Jewell

One of my favorite books! My book version of a romantic comedy movie. It’s also one of my favorite book covers ever!

10. The Trevarton Inheritance by Malcolm MacDonald

This is one of my favorite historical fiction books! The main characters are mostly young adults but then again, it’s still in the adult fiction genre.

11. Where Rainbows End by Cecilia Ahern

One of the best books I’ve read last year! A lot of YA readers have already read this but if you still haven’t GO READ THIS ONE NOW!

12. Zoya by Danielle Steel

Zoya is one of the most unforgettable heroines I ever encountered. Strong, brave and beautiful. One of the best historical fictions I’ve read.

Some of these books may contain sex and drugs so it’s best to look it up on Goodreads first before reading it if you’re a young reader/not mature reader.

That’s it! I hope you like this new feature on the blog. I already have a couple more recommendations for you guys. Tell me if you already read the books above or if you intend to read it. I could use someone to fangirl with!
