The Angel Messenger: Books and Bookmarks

The Angel Messenger

The Angel Messenger is a weekly recap feature on the blog where I tell you what happened in the past week in my life, blog and around the blogosphere. This post links to The Sunday Post by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves by Team Tynga’s Reviews.

I haven’t done a weekly recap in like, three weeks because 1.) It was midterm week. I didn’t pressure myself to post anything on the blog and it felt really good to let myself focus on my other priorities in life. 2.) It was the week after midterm week so I just felt like chilling and 3.) I went to a sleepover last weekend so I don’t want to write a blog post in my friend’s house haha. 🙂

Did you miss my personal updates??? Anyway, I still have two exams left ugh.

Bookish Life

I got three new books!

NBS Great Warehouse Sale Haul

These are the two books my friends bought for me at the NBS Great Warehouse Sale and I think they’re still a little pricey for a warehouse sale price. Anyway, I’m still happy I got them!

London for Dummies

I got this book the other day. Let’s just all pretend that I’m really going to London.

bookmarks won in giveaway

And I finally got the bookmarks I won from a giveaway in Twitter! These are just some of them because I already gave six to my friends. By the way, the Liars, INC. bookmark is even SIGNED!!!

ribbon bookmark

Look at this ribbon origami my cousin made for me! It’s so freaking cute that I know I have to use it as a bookmark!

I also got three eARCs for review and here they are:

This Ordinary Life by Jennifer Walkup
What’s Broken Between Us by Alexis Bass
Nirvana by J.R. Stewart

I always forget to share digital copies of books I get I hope I don’t forget them from now on!

You might have missed…

(8/15) I shared my reasons why being a mood reader sucks and one reason it doesn’t!

(8/19) How to Love by Katie Cotugno would have been a 4 star read for me, except it wasn’t. Check out why!

(8/21) I’m joining the 3rd Beat the Heat Readathon!

(8/21) I need your opinion on subscription services and blog designs.

(8/27) I have six blogging regrets! Are they the same as yours?

Shanelle asked what is your favorite bookish quote and also shared her pretty lettering!

Writing is so damn hard, guys and Katie tells us the different reasons. I love this post so much. <3

Emily asked if you can give too many five star ratings.

Shannelle spilled the secret of how she schedules her posts.

Jillian shared some very helpful tips on how to be a great blogger.

Cait took a hiatus (still unforgivable, Cait) and launched her new blog design. Check it out! Spoiler: you will die of envy of her arrow header.

I just want to thank you guys for taking the time to comment on my posts especially when I needed your opinion on blog design and subscription services and taking the time to read my discussion posts. <3 I have a lot of ideas that I want to write and all I NEED is time and energy to actually write a full blog post for them. Seriously, I never thought that people actually like the things I write here and that some of you can relate to me, too. This is the BEST community EVER.

  1. Don’t worry about not posting as regular as you want! Sometimes life just gets in the way and it would only stress us further if we push it. I had a 2 month hiatus last year and after that it really got my groove going! 😉 I never got the NBS Warehouse sale because GOOD LORD THE LINES! I heard that you need to wait like hours before it’s your turn. Plus, with the insane crowd, I don’t think I’d be able to stand it! And grats on your haul and bookmarks. Yay for bookish things!

  2. I love that origami bow, so cute! You got some awesome bookish stuff this week. I love bookmarks. I have to take extra steps to remember which ebooks I get every week. I know there are times I forget to mention one or two because they are not in my face.

  3. Ugh, midterms. That doesn’t sound fun at all, I am sorry! I think it is so great that you prioritize all the other stuff in your life so well! I am quite terrible at it, so you are a good example to follow 🙂 Hope all the exams went well, and enjoy the new books- I am quite curious about Nirvana and This Ordinary Life, so I’m looking forward to your thoughts!

  4. One time I nearly forgot to do my recap with all RL stuff happening, so don’t feel guilty about. I think everyone has that moment where we are all too busy. Oh what lovely books you have. Eh, it was still pricey? (I didn’t buy anything for this year) Warehouse sale are super cheap I bought 13 books under 500 pesos, such a sweet bargain for me. You just need to push through the crowd though, haha! Hope you have fun month ahead. <3
